What Mom’s Really Want

Our relationship with our mom is one of the most special relationships in our lives. As a child, mom bathed you, wiped your tears, helped with your homework, washed your clothes, listened to your stories, played tooth fairy and cheered for you. As you become an adult, mom is still the one that wipes our tears, listens to your stories, cheers for you and for some, still washes your clothes.

Mom’s put family before themselves so we designate the second Sunday in May just for our mom. For the weeks leading up to Mother’s Day, the marketplace is flooded with items that honor mothers and all that they do for us. When she is in her last days what will she remember? What will you remember? Our memories are not tied to stuff, we will remember the experiences we had and how what we do for mom makes her feel.

Finding a special gift that says ‘Thank you’ and shows how much we appreciate mom is challenging.  As a kid, dad was in charge of getting the gift. Some moms out there have a lifetime supply of perfume tucked away in a bathroom cabinet. Mom’s spend their time taking care of the family and putting her own needs last. Give mom the gift that she often refuses to do for herself. A gift that allows her to relax and focus on herself for a little while.

How often have you heard your mom say: “I need to get a massage” “I need to get a pedicure”
“I need to go to the salon” but it never happens? Give your mom the gift that she most denies herself. Give her the gift of healthful relaxation and let her know that have been paying attention.

As the old saying goes, “If momma ain’t happy… ain’t nobody happy”.
