Do You Plan on Aging Gracefully or Fight It All the Way?

Let’s face it, you can’t fight the calendar but there are ways you can age gracefully. We are living longer but are not necessarily living better. There are ways you can minimize chronic pain as you age. I am going to outline a few tips for you to follow and the best part is you can easily get started today!

Quick Tips

Here are a few tips that you can easily work into your daily routine:

Take a Walk.

It’s time to stop talking about it and do it. Take 20 minutes in the morning, lunch hour or evening to walk around the block. Start small but start building walking into your daily routine.

Sunlight

Your body naturally produces vitamin D when you spend at least 15 minutes a day in the sunlight. Vitamin D promotes calcium absorption and is critical to bone health. A 20-minute walk outdoors can lead to strong bones and good heart health.

H2O

I preach this a lot and I will keep on preaching it… drink plenty of water. Water is good for your skin and keeping your organs hydrated optimizes body function.

Unplug

Try to step away from your computer, TV and phone. It’s time to unplug and enjoy some time sitting on your back porch and enjoy the beauty of your backyard. Walk over and talk to a neighbor. Person to person interaction creates a positive mindset and is more satisfying than sending text messages all night.

Sleep

Are you getting enough rest? Sleeping gives your body time to regenerate and recover from the day. Boost your energy and combat chronic illnesses by going to bed and waking up at set times every day.

Getting Started

When you get home today, instead of heading straight into your home, put your sneakers on and walk the block. When you sit down for dinner, put your phone in another room and keep it there. After dinner spend some time on your patio and talk to your loved ones or a neighbor. When 9:00 pm rolls around, go to bed. Wake up the next morning and repeat!
This regular routine is good for your health, good for your skin, good for your soul and will help you age gracefully.
