Tired of Being Negative? Here is How You Can Turn that Frown Upside Down!

Have you been feeling pressure or snapping at those around you lately? Impatience and frustration are often caused by stress hormones such as cortisol and norepinephrine. The brain releases the hormones based on our heart rates and blood pressure.
One way to help reign in the feelings of anxiety is to learn how to think positive. I know it’s easier said than done, but practice also makes perfect!

Healthy Mind, Healthy Life

Learning to think positive is an important component to living a happy and healthy life. When you think positive, you feel lighter, smile more and people love being around you because you inspire. I have read some online studies that people suffered from chronic pain that practiced daily affirmations were more inclined to make healthier decisions.
It is much easier to be happy when you think positive thoughts. That means you are more prone to:
·         Going outside to take a walk
·         Have the energy to make the effort to cook healthy meals
·         Socialize with friends more often

Tips to Achieving Healthier Mindset

Thinking negative is a habit, the first step to a healthy lifestyle is to start changing your habits. Here are a few simple activities you can start practicing:
  1.  Keep a note by your bedside that reads, “What makes you smile?” When you wake up in the morning and when you go to bed at night answer the question.
  2. During the day, if something makes you smile, stop and embrace the moment.
  3. When faced with a challenge, before reacting remind yourself of a success you have recently achieved.
  4. Add more humor to your life. Reach out to a friend that makes you laugh, look up your favorite YouTube video, or read your favorite blog.
  5. Volunteer and help others.
  6. Practice gratitude. Acknowledging what you are grateful for at least once a day. Consider keeping a gratitude journal and spend five minutes a day acknowledging your appreciation.
